Finally got some time to do a bit of a doodle… Work is tough on this side of the world. Need to try to keep making myself some time.
Happy New Year! So one of my resolutions is to draw more.. I’m more settled at my workplace now and I’ve gotten used to the work so I think I can take some time out to focus on my personal work too.. or not. We shall see. But that’s what making silly new years resolutions are for. :)
I should update more… Actually I should update about my workplace! I love my work.
Recently we’ve been working on our New Years cards here. We had a lot of photo-shoots and the concept is pretty sweet. The site will be updated with the content at New year but it looks so good! Wish it wasn’t so top secret but I can’t wait to link it here. I think I may try and get interested in photography. (As is the rest of the world).
I swear.. My New Years resolution is going to be get personal work back on track.. #solazy
Been busy with work and doing some bits and bobs…. but getting back to sketching recently.
Anyone ever notice how awesome Sugar Skulls are? I think I found my new obsession.
Recently I’ve been busy at work. I’ve now been working for 6 months at my new job and I’m loving every minute of it. It’s about time that I get back to my own illustrations though. Thankfully I’ve learned so much from working in a design firm that making new designs is alot easier. Also found a new found love for photoshop and using a mouse instead of a tablet.
Lets see what the next 6 months bring. :)
Last week saw the end of ザラメ展 (Zarame ten) in Tsushima, Aichi. I participated last year which was alot of fun. This year I submitted some analogue paintings. Its my first attempt at trying to change from digital to analogue. I really want to get a bit piece of work done, but it’s hard to work up the courage to paint that much. There’s always this feeling of “what if I mess it up”. Next time I’ll try it out.
Over 700 people came to see the exhibition and we had several performances over golden week. Hoping to join it again next year and maybe even do a bit if a workshop or performance.
Wonder what’s next though! That’s my planned events finished. Work is hectic and maybe it’s time to get back to the drawing board.
Recently I participated in 460人展 in Nagoya. As the name suggests, it was an exhibition of 460 artists. The location was amazing, so many colorful artworks and crazy stuff. Over 2000 people came to see it too! Overall a very very successful exhibition. Now I need to get some new work done for next year. Hopefully bigger and better! Slowly but surely coming along with my analogue work!
GEISAI!!!! Recently things have been crazy… My parents came to visit me in Japan, I moved apartment, I quit my job as an English teacher and on Monday I start work in a graphic design company in Nagoya. However before that I get to be part of GEISAI 16!!! I’m very privileged to be allowed to show work again. This time I’m showing original hand drawn work. It’s my first time to show hand drawn work do I wonder what the reaction will be. I think I learned alot from the last GEISAI, looking forward to learning some more. I wonder if I’ll be interviewed again for TV or if I’ll meet anymore actresses or actors…. GEISAI is awesome. I can’t wait! But first an overnight bus to Tokyo!
I’ve been so unbelievably busy recently that I’ve had no time for anything.. But with GEISAI looming and another two exhibitions… I better get on it!
I’ve not completely forgotten about making artwork…. but I’ve been so busy recently with moving, work, weddings, family visits and preparing to start a new life in april…
I keep forgetting that GEISAI is before my new job starts though. Heres a sneak peak at what I’ve been up to recently. I swear I’ll finish my 3 paintings and post them up soon!
